Personally, I don't want BJ OR Geno playable.  I think we've got enough Mario reps, even if they don't have a Mushroom for an icon.
You mean Yoshi? Yea I don't understand why he doesn't have the Mario icon...he's basically a Mario character who deserves his own stages too X_X;;
Yoshi, Wario, Donkey Kong (If you look at the older perspective of things).
Yoshi is definatley Mario, Wario....hm...he's tough. Depends on how they're using him. I think he can be his own if they use only Ware stuff. DK is his own. If you look back, then Mario is technically a DK character, since it was called "Donkey Kong" not "Super Mario"...
Why is he in games like Mario Kart, then? =/

Who...you mean DK? I dunno... the two are forever linked, but DK is his own thing. Multiple series of games completely seperate from the Mario-verse, and only appearing with Mario in spinoffs until the GBA games.

I personally still count him as a rep, regardless of whether they have the same thing or not.

Anyway we've got Mario, Peach, Bowser, Luigi (more likely than not), Yoshi, and Wario already.  That's six people from Mario.

Counting DK, that's seven.

We have enough Mario representatives.

Can you elaborate as to why DK? I have a hard time understand why he shouldn't be on his own, especiall since Diddy is definatley more DK than Mario (only appeared in Mario Kart to give DK a second guy in Double Dash). I can understand Wario, since he's basically a personal preference...

Does classic rivalry mean anything?  That's why I count him as a Mario rep.

And Wario isn't based on preference.  As far as I know, Wario ORIGINATED in a Mario game.

If you want to play the origionated card, then Mario should be a DK rep., since the first game either appeared in was a Donkey Kong game (in fact, Mario was a non-issue until the Mario Bros. arcade game roughly five years later). I htink Wario is based on preference since being equally famous for the Mario games and for his own Land/Ware titles on gameboy...

Regardless, 6/7 characters from the same/similar series is too much as it is.  If we're gonna put every Mario character in, then we may as well make all 500 of the Pokemon playable while we're at it. =/

Nayrman

That's understandable (that still doesn't change the fact that I want Geno). As long as other series get generally more representation as well, I'm okay if Mario or pokemon get a bit more (as long as the not clones thing). I don't want more Mario characters while series like F=Zero or Kirby would get no more reps.

Neerb

I personally don't care about where they originated: technically, because of the symbols, there are four Mario reps, and having another would be fine.

I mean, if we're really going for the whole "origins" thing, then ALL of them are DK characters, since Yoshi, Wario, Bowser, Luigi, and Peach originated from Mario games, and Mario originated from Donkey Kong.

Nayrman

That's what I was trying to say X_X;;

Neerb

Also, that whole "500 pokemon" thing is an exaggeration:  if there's 7 "mario" characters, why would that have 500 pokemon?  I'd think they'd only have, like, 7.  ;)

Also, there's technically 493 pokemon (i lIke teh pogeymans!).

Dei Enyt

Meh.  I know I was being a little over the top with my example, but it doesn't change my opinion.

I just think we've got enough Mario as it is. =/

I know, and I undestand why and overall I support that opinion (Personally I just happen to like Geno and after him I don't want any more Mario)

What if Bowser jr. gets in, THEN Geno gets in.  That way, we could have Bowser Jr. without having anyone after Geno!  :)

thats cause mario has a lot of important characters
games like fire emblem dont have much to offer so they cant throw in "too many" characters
