well, I've been thinking of maybe buying an old Genesis system, but I haven't quite decided.
Off of Amazon alone, I can get:
Genesis (2) + Necessary A/V cables (they're like, five bucks X_X;; )
Sonic 2, 3, and Knux
All for about $30-35 (without shipping, although it shouldn't be too bad).
Not to mention I have basically a Visa $25 gift card (meaning it works EVERYWHERE) and some more possible Hannukah money.
So, do you think it'd be a good idea and if so any other games I should get? **Sonic alone probably isn't worth the buy. I'd really like Megaman: The Wily Wars but I hear that game is hard to come by**

Well, some stuff came in. I got the AV cables (which look like new...in fact they may be), but I didn't take pics of that (who wants to see pics of AV cables?) Unfortunately, the system itself hasn't come in with Sonic 3 (I got it from the same guy). That is shipping from CA, so it'll be a while. The stuff I got came from the likes of NJ, MD, etc. Here is the rest.

Box to the game. Box is in good condition, and doesn't have any tears and the like.

The game is in good condition as well. The sticker on the cartridge has seen better days but overall satisfied. Looks like it'll work just fine.

Sonic and Knuckles came in too. The box is slightly torn on the left side, but it's in one piece and holds the game case. Could be worse. It was like seven bucks so I didn't expect a whole lot.

The game itself like Sega Six pack seems to be in more than good condition. I was surprised on how heavy it was. The manual and mail in info (for SEGA of America while they were in Redmond...lol) seem to be stuck in there. I messed up the mail in info fairly badly trying to get to the manual, so I don't want to risk it... XD

sonic 2 box. Nigh perfect condition. Although it seems like it was from a Blockbuster when they sold this thing, hence the "not for resale" part on it. Overall though, fantastic box. Glad I spent the extra 2 bucks.

Like the box, the game is in nigh perfect condition. Somehow I get the feeling this was stuck in someone's basement for years without anyone touching it...

This was taken inside the Sonic 2 manual. If you can't tell (the picture is kinda bad), this was the origional title screen that was suposed to be in the game, but got changed last second. Somehow this image still made it into the manual...lol...

The owner of Sonic 2 was even nice enough to include the cheat code to get Super Sonic from the get go... too bad I can't read his handwriting. Oh well, that is what the internet is for!

You can get better deals, but I guess it's okay. It would be like $10-$15 shipping, just so you know.

Megaman: The Wily Wars was PAL only, and was only released in the USA on the Sega Channel. NTSC reproductions are hard to find and expensive.

Despite that, I would recommend:
Virtua Racing
Truxton
Michael Jackson's Moonwalker
Gunstar Heroes
Rocket Knight Adventures

I would also look into buying a Sega CD, the model 2 version is cheap. The hookups for the 32X are also easier to find.

Ah, the joys of having a Model 1 Genesis...

Michael Jackson? 0_0;;
I do hear Gunstar Heroes is good...
I'm not gonna get a CD or 32X since the only games I'd get would be Sonic CD or Knux Chaotix.
I might get Ristar if Amazon has that. The 32X on Amazon is just as much as the Model 2 Genesis 0_0;;
BTW, lol Sonic 2 is 84 cents!

And I know there are "better" deals, but all things considered I trust Amazon so I'd rather pay a few extra bucks on Amazon than risk places that always have junker deals for old games like ebay.

Michael Jackson's Moonwalker is pretty fun.

I paid $40 for my 32X because it came with a cable needed to hook it up on a model 1 Genesis that sometimes sells for $20 alone. The model 1 Sega CD is even more expensive.

Still, having this version is great because I can play Master System games with a converter.  :)

Well, this one guy had a Genesis for about $24 in the "used" category, and the pictures shown look pretty good.

I can't decide on whether to get Gunstar Heroes, a Contra Game, or Ristar as the extra games *I added arcade Ms.Pac-Man for like 50 cents XD *

Again, I probably won't get a CD or 32X, not for one game anyway X_X;;

- Genesis (Under Used, CGRACIS has a used for 23 dollars, and it's practically new/well taken care of)

-These should work on a Gen 2 Genesis, at least so say the reviews.

Ristar, definitely.

Ms. Pac-Man is awesome on the Genesis. Get these cables instead, they are stereo.

Cool, thanks. Again, this all depends on what type of money/stuff I get for Hanukkah tomorrow.
Lol, under the Sonic 2 someone was trying to sell a new one for 80 bucks while a good condition used was like five bucks XD XD XD
Predicting at most it should cost be 60-80 dollars at most if I prefer to get some more "quality" stuff, although of course that's all relative.
So:
Genesis (model 2), AV cables (model 2), Sonic 2, 3, Knuckles, Ms.Pac-Man, Ristar, **and maybe contra, depending on money of course**

also, try getting aero the Acrobat.
Fun as hell.

Truth.

Oh, and just for variety, get Sega Genesis 6-PAK, it's six games in one. Revenge of Shinobi alone makes it worth it.

Sega Genesis 6-PAK has Golden Axe, Sonic 1, Columns, Revenge of Shinobi, Streets of Rage, and Super Hang-On all on one cartridge.

It's like $7 on Amazon, so it's a little more than a dollar a game.

well, of the traditional kind anyway XD

Sonic Spinball is just okay. Sonic 3D Blast on the other hand, is terrible.

Spinball was just too hard (I've beaten it once tho). I mean really, who makes an object oriented pinball game? It's supposed to be about getting the most points X_X;;
