In a recent interview at E3, Miyamoto revealed that the next Zelda game on Wii would feature not just a TP-style teen Link, but an actual adult Link.  Further more, he specifically pointed out to IGN that in the picture, Link wasn't wielding a sword, and then said that this game would be completely different than TP.

What do you think of Adult Link?  What could Miyamoto possibly mean by pointing out Link had no sword?  What could he possibly do without one, considering this is LINK we're talking about?

I don't like the idea of Adult Link; I prefer Teen Link from games like TP and OoT, and Young Link in close second, but I don't want an Adult at all.  However, this may show that Nintendo isn't entirely soft, since a more family friendly Link would probably be younger.  As for why he pointed out that Link had no sword, I can't possibly imagine Link, THE video game swordsman, not having one period.  I think he simply didn't REVEAL the sword because there's something special about it, such as being a bigger berserker-style sword, or maybe even a beam sword to show that this game will be the oft-referenced yet mostly feared Sci-Fi Zelda.

"Adult" has a variety of meanings and could range anywhere from "young adult" (in which case he wouldn't look much different than he did in TP), "middle-aged" (as in 40 years old and balding) or "elderly" (as in cane and cancer). IGN was rather vague in their assessment of adult, so I wouldn't get too worried.

Considering Hylians are really Nintendo's take on elves, I really doubt it's going to be either of the two latter. And hey, considering that everyone was gay for Link in TP, it'll be interesting to see how things pan out with this new game. D:

Maybe he's using a medieval gun.
It'll be just like Shadow the Hedgehog!
As in, bad. :(

The no sword probably won't be an issue. Sorry Miyamoto, but after the "blech" waggle of TP for Wii, a new Zelda for Wii that doesn't have accurate (well, better non waggling) sword fighting is in some ways a failure (as that is what everyone wants).

I have no problems with an Adult age link. Could bring more drama since Link has always been a bit on the naive side. All I can say on this is, in the next Smash bros. there better not be an Adult Link, Teen Link, and Young Link. That would be horrible X_X:;

Instead his final smash will be Link playing the 'Song of Time', which slows down every other user and randomly turns Link into either Toon Link, Young Link, Adult Link, or remain the same. He will stay with his new character until he gets the smash ball again, and will once again randomly become one of his many stages of life.

Anyway, I like the idea of an adult Link. And perhaps, as someone said, the sword is too "tricked out" to show off in a picture. Or maybe Link has a new array of weapons, or even fights with his hands. He could have a spear, or javelin and appear in horse races and games of the such. The possibilities are endless, I just hope Nintendo chooses the right ones...

Being different from TP would be a good departure from the series, since it was pretty much an attempt to be OOT.

It pretty much WAS OoT with a fresh coat of paint and waggle controls for the sword...

The lack of a sword could mean a variety of things. Maybe something happened to the Master Sword, or there's a new legendary sword. Or it could mean this "new" Adult Link will use primary weapons other than swords.

...you never know.

Link taking out Ganon with his fists would be a sight to see. Nunchuck for left jab! Hit him with a Courage Punch while he's making fire bats!

A different style than "3 dungeons for ___, twist, more dungeons for new items, finale" would be nice. I liked TP and thought it was a pretty good game, but that style is getting kind of old. I'm thinking of something like a selection of multiple dungeons at a time, but that may still be similar.

edit: oh, and Ganondorf's jumping into the spotlight. That was lame. I'd prefer it if Zant was draining a weakened Ganondorf or something. Leading to a, "the defeat of one demon lead to the rise of yet another..." thing or something.

MUCH better picture. That is NO princess Zelda X_X;;

Could it be that the mysterious person we see is Link's sword? I've seen plenty of anime and manga where swords/weapons transform into real people and such so they can be their own character. Just a thought I'd say since Miyamoto made a big deal about Link not having his sword in the picture.

Amazing.

Link looks like he's entering the portal to Oblivion.  :D

Weird, anyway look at the gem in the middle of her chest, to me, that just screams being a sword. Actually, I thought she was a sword at first, just a giant looking one.

AWESOMENESS.  The girl up front looks like a cross between Midna (her true form) and a TP Zora.
