Dill

#45
Quoteis our second longest serving staff member - only behind Silverhawk79.

Are we talking who's had the rank the longest or first? Snorkel was the first, seeing as he was the one that stole the original NSF from that one kid when Nsider was shut down. As for the former, if I remember correctly, Vaatix (as well as Zoidberg, Silver, and myself) was made admin instantaneously after the forum was transferred (perhaps even while it was still on the first guy's server to help ensure no files were lost (they were anyway, which is why NS2 is now the bigger forum)).

I'm sorry, kids, but as much as you all hate to admit it, Snorkel started this forum. He just happened to be clever enough to steal it from a twelve year-old, yet still smart and ballsy enough to jump ship when it meant something for him in pecuniary terms (hell, if I knew there was a market for our admin accounts, I'd have sold mine while we were still the larger forum). Now that I think about it, I have more respect for Snorkel than I do for any person I've come across by being dragged into a forum in which I have no purpose (I was only a member of Nsider for about four weeks in 2004 (after being banned for saying the word "hell" to an admin in a PM, I started Divine Boards (where I met Vaatix) and kept in contemptuous contact with Bobcheese, who was partially responsible for my ban (thus getting me dragged back in for events such as PA (which I take partial responsibility for shutting down, because I'm egotistical and masculine))).

I was actually brought into this forum because Snorkel thought I was the owner of FCD and thus wanted me to help him steal the first NSF (which, at the time, was five times as large as NS2). I told him we needed Vaatix for it, too, although I don't think the two of us ever disclosed to Snorkel that Vaatix was the owner of FCD. Maybe we did, but for the most part, we had him fooled that I was somehow relevant to the whole situation. In reality, I contributed more to NS2 by telling Eric that Bobcheese.

With that little history lesson over, I think it's time for me to say a little bit about Vaatix's departure (and by that, I mean I'm going to talk about myself for another few paragraphs). The only reason I have been coming to this forum has been in pure jest. Soda and many others who know me well can testify that my lack of remotely serious posts is not because I'm incapable of having an intelligent conversation, but merely because I've yet to see this forum grow past the maturity of a second grade brawl in the playground. With that said, I think it's quite obvious that such meaninglessly facetious posts go completely overlooked unless there are others who feel the same way. While Vaatix may have taken his own position seriously (or at least was professional enough to treat it as such without anyone knowing he hated what he did), he was one of the few people here I could think eye to eye with. Other than that, I have to bring in people like Soda merely to hold an interesting conversation. With Vaatix gone and Super and Cogs showing up almost exclusively via instant messenger, I truly don't see what I ought to be doing here.

I'm not going to delete my account or change my password to something I can't guess or even use my tertiary secret admin account to wreak havoc on the forum. Although my post, at this point, may seem dramatic as such, I can simplify things to say that I'm leaving merely because conversation here is as interesting as an antique cook book. You can debate that I've never technically been here at all (to which, I would agree), but for now, let's just assume I've gone through the whole works of making one of those introduction threads filled with smiles and enough enthusiasm to embarrass a middle-school cheerleader. Let's also assume I was a close and personal friend of each and every member here, spending hours of the night conversing about our high school crushes and Celine Deon's new single and whatnot.

One thing we don't have to assume, however, is that I've been a beautifully contributive member and will be missed very much. More likely than not, I'll hop back on the train when something else happens (such as Moses committing suicide following the reconstruction of Nsider or Soda being made an honorary administrator in absentia), but for now, valete liberi.

post scriptum: it may seem terribly conceited that I not even mention Vaatix in this post, but seeing as the two of us talk via other means much more often, this doesn't change a whole lot for our relationship. Besides, he told me he was leaving months ago. I was starting to become a little impatient.

As a note, Dill, I am including total duration. Meaning Vaatix is now in fact second longest serving on staff - regardless of whom had first shot.

No less, I understand your point, Dill. We've become stale as of late, and some of our best and brightest are no longer with us. That doesn't change much in the end, as we are all still here in some shape or form. But it means a lot that you'd come back after my suicide, if only to take my position for yourself.

PsychoYoshi

God is returning to the heavens, but he will still be with us, and we will see him again during the second coming at Catnarok.

Chaos

Goodbye Vaatix, if you are truly gone. Although we never really had a close connection, I still remember you pulled us out of errors in the old FCD. I don't know anything from here since I was not here for most of the merge time. Anyways, you will be missed, but your help, support, laughs, and everything else will not be forgotten.

Fish

Vaatix made up a large part of FCD. It's sad to see him go now.

Did he install SMF and get hosting? No. Snorkel wasn't even involved until I asked him for help. I got this place in a barebones format, and then I asked Snorkel for hosting, since he had a server. I started this place after M_F!'s forum imploded, and Snorkel was not involved. I think I know my forum's history.

At first to me, Vaatix was just another higher Admin.
Then as I got to slowly know him............
I hated him... The way he treated people, and how he ran the site His way. I despised him for months, but still did everything he told me to do.

Eventually over time.... (not exactly sure HOW) but I ended up realizing all of his efforts and sacrifices towards This forum. I saw that he worked tirelessly hard in making this forum work for the better good.
His strict rules and no B.S. Attitude was ONLY for the good of the site...and putting, "Morons" in their place.

As I realize all of this, I grew to respect and honor him more and more. Eventually I develop a true loyalty towards him.
So much to the point to where if he wanted to take my rank Away For What ever reason, I would let it go and not say a word.
I wouldn't Care at all! Lol
It's like he could tell me to do/say anything and I would with out a 2nd thought, if it was for the good of the site.
I told him this many times, but I have an unrivaled respect for him more then anybody else on this entire site.....

The sacrifices that he's made is worth mentioning everyday,... The honor to be under Vaatix Gannon honestly is one of the best things that could happen to me online.
He's worth following and doing things for.

I'm not kissing up to him at all, but it's Really hard to express how I feel when I end up being an Extreme loyalist to somebody. Lol

Until I see you again, Vaatix Gannon, Take care of yourself, and know that you have true followers.

I've seen him post, like, 5 times. Every single one at least made me smile.

Bye-bye Vaatix. Yeah, don't have anything else to say.

Oh Vesperia, never change... never change

Tsumaru

I just played TF2 with him last night and it's gonna make me miss him in chat even more.
