Are Roms Legal?

I don't want to harm nintendo, but I don't want to miss out on old games I never got to play and can't find, so are roms legal?

Only the emulators are legal, not the the roms.

I heard of slim condtions that if you made a backup yourself from an actual cartridge, it could be legal but your warranty is intercourse ed. You can go ahead and download them, but do so at your own risk.

Nintendo itself has stated that such rumors are absolutely false.

i thought that if you own the game they are legal but lets say if you downloaded sf2 that one would be illegal no matter what because it was never released

Torrenting in general isn't illegal. What's illegal is torrenting things that aren't supposed to be free.
