Notice how our Core is shrinking? The one thing we do right is have a core group of users...we'll say some odd 30 of them. Now, recently we've lost Totla, Water, TH4, lava, and a number of others, the latter being ridiculously recent. You take that out, and that's a margin of 10 % in a one week period. Sure, it's not always going to happen, and new Core members may be found, but it is still a decrease. On top of that, our new user registration has slowed, partially due to a lack of care from the users, partially due to being an NSider clone.

Look at it, last month our numbers spiked down, and I am aware stats mean poop, but you can't help notice losses of 50% or more. Furthermore, I never said I wanted an explosion of members, I want members that will stay...a vast majority of the users that join leave within a week....so, basically, we're here to foster the growth of a core that will soon be non-existent.

I'm not looking too far into it, I've examined the numbers, and I've had to watch a number of users leave on SI/SO, and it frustrates me. I made it clear, you can say that the 25 topics a month is good, as long as it makes the members happy, but at what cost to the rest we're driving away? The core will inevitably shrink from some odd 30 to a nice even 2. Maybe it's just me, but I don't want to see that happen.

Tupin

Like Riosan said, I say we get a TF2 server.

More people here play that than WoW.

No ideas for changing the name, though.

Condensing the boards sounds like a great idea. Plus, we need to absorb forums even smaller than us.

Silver and I've looked into your last thing, the only forums we could "absorb" that would have mutual gains are ones that have all of 4 active users.

I'd say joint partnership or something like that.
I honestly have no ideas for anything else because it all depends on ppl noticing us more than anything

Sure, it's shrinking, but it's also rebuilding at the same time with new members. We cannot expect to be a superforum, we only need what we have now and maybe some more members as time goes by. Success is really how well the forum is maintained and if we can at least keep interest level up. I think we're doing a good job there. And we're not a clone by any stretch of the imagination, we're a forum made in response to the closing of NSider that has some of its attributes, I suppose.

The core (that sounds really official, by the way ._.) isn't as small as advertised. We do have a good number of people who hang around here. We can't force people to stay, but, meh. Whatever, I think we're doing just fine, really.

I'm not really trying to argue, just say we're fine as it is now and I don't see any immediate negative changes soon.

I like this idea, but I think the only way an alliance will occur is if some larger forum launches an attack on a smaller forum. Then there would be an interforum outcry condemning the action, and United League of Siders or something would be formed to combat the evil powers that be.

No wait, that didn't happen last time...

As far as centering our forum on one topic, I don't see why that's important. Yeah, it gives us appeal to new members, but does it really help us? Centering our forum on a single (or even a few) topic(s) would cut our activity more than it already is. I'm all for switching the boards around a bit and making some stickied threads, but the way I see things, members should shape the forum in the way they already converse, not the other way around.

The problem with this current forum, like many similar to it, is that it easily stagnates from having such a broad possibility.  If you're simply a general discussion forum (which this place is basically, just with a heavy Nintendo influence) no one joins, since there's nothing to incite them to join.  Everything here can be found elsewhere, usually in a better form.  When you focus on one or two topics, discussion is refined down, your community then can form a niche that will attract people to it.  No one goes out to look for a general discussion forum.  They usually look for a forum catering to a certain interest.  Why do you think people joined the original NSider over other forums?  It wasn't for the general discussion of Power On.  It was to discuss specific Nintendo games and products.  Power On was more something that kept people there afterwards (or drove them away, your call).  Either way, a forum with a focus stands a far better chance at not only surviving, but it allows for it to have a chance to thrive.

Spam

I Think the forums should be basic game discussion, reccent government and world wide events, and a random board (like Power On), we should also see if every member could give at least one INTELLGENT friend and email to join the forums.  I believe a suitable name might be "The Auctorita " The Power in Latin.
